You can apply the metallic and pearlescent paint over a faux finished surfaces just let the glaze dry completely.

This technique can turn your ugly picture frame, furniture, flower and etc. into fabulous and elegant look.

Step 2: Apply the Faux Finish Crackle using brush or roller. Let it dry 3 to 4 hours or until no longer tacky.

Tips: For small crack roll on thin top coat
Apply thick heavy layer of top coat using brush for big cracking.
Crackle finish is best for furniture too.

Paint Color Selections

For hallways and open area use a satin finish it will hide the wall imperfection and easy clean up. Never use flat on the hallways because kids often drag their hands on wall.

For kitchen and bath use semi-gloss paint, its easy clean up and the dirt wipe right off.

For ceilings use flat paint, it will hide the imperfection and no eye catching shine.

For bedrooms use satin and semi-gloss for kids room and play room for easy clean up.

If you really have a not so perfect wall you can try to use a multiple color wall sponge painting it can really hide the imperfection and will give the wall a sophisticated look.

For trims, crown molding, stair railings, and built-in entertainment area and built-in book cases use semi-gloss or glossy. It will give a nice shine appearance, sophistication and not to mention easy clean up.

Painting Cleaning Tips

Before you start painting have a damp cloth or rugs with you at all time that way it easy for you to wipe clean any spills or over lap paint and have a plastic plate or bowl that you don’t use any more and put your wet cloth in it so you wont spread the paint in the place where you put it.

If your tired of cleaning the brush in between coats don’t worry just get a household plastic wrap and wrap your paint brush until you use it again. And if you have to go somewhere and you don’t know when you coming back just wrap your paint roller on a plastic wrap, the paint wont dry for at least 2 days depending on how well you wrap it.

Painting Tips

Move all the furniture to the center of the room as possible and cover them with drop cloth or painters plastic.

Felling the gap between the walls and trims with all purpose caulk preferably color white caulk.

If possible remove the switch and receptacle cover plates and tape the electrical sockets and light switch with painters blue tape to avoid painting over it or splatter for easy cleaning.

Tape off the drop cloth onto the floor, the wood trim especially the bare wood and bare wood edge as they hard to clean and might not comes off at all.

For good ventilation just open the window and doors. When your done or waiting for the paint to dry for second coat you must close the windows if the temperature outside is colder than the inside because it will slow down the drying process.

When felling holes use a all purpose spackle. Don’t worry if its messy look or the hole is now a bump, it can get clean up using a damp sponge or cloth after it dries. Just wipe off the surface gently and smoothly that way you can control it better.

Sandstone

Step 1: Tape off all the areas like trim, ceiling, and the areas where you don’t want to get painted with painter's tape. Use 2" to 3" latex paint brush to texture paint around the border. Note: use the thin paint brush with angle its perfect for edging.

Step 2: Roll on the paint section by section at a time maintaining a wet edge in a W pattern from floor to ceiling. Roll over it again with thin layer of the textured paint but don’t put too much pressure, just roll slightly.

Step 3: Allow the first coat to dry at least 4-5 hours. When drying is complete recoat and follow step 2.

BRUSHED PEARL

Add a elegance and sophistication to any room in the house by applying Faux Finishes on your wall.

If your not sure you’ll like the result, try it first on a 2ft x 2ft piece of wood or wood that is big enough to see the result. Play with it you’ll be surprise on many great result and technique you’ll fine on every stroke.

PS. Don’t use particle wood as it will absorb a lot of paint and will not give you good result.

STEP 1: Tape off all areas where you do not want the finish applied. Apply base coat with the roller to the entire surface. Allow to dry about 12 to 24 hours that way if you make mistake it can easily wipe off with a damp rug.

Step 2: Apply the Brushed Pearl along floor, ceiling, and molding first and proceed to the main wall brushing in an X pattern over a 5x8 area. To avoid thick applications apply an even opaque layer. Note: Use the color washing brush for great result.

Step 3: Using the plastic float trowel press it into the wet surface moving it in circular motion. It is necessary to wait a little longer if the trowel slips over the material (brushed pearl) it maybe because its too wet. Note: Periodically clean trowel during application.

Step 4: If a second coat desired, repeat steps 2 and 3 but you have allow the surface to dry first for four to five hours.

Step 5: If desired sheen finish look, apply a Water Base Clear coat, not only heighten the metallic effect of Brushed Pearl but it will add a protection. You can apply water base clear coat on any surface on wall mural painting.

If painters blue tape not around just have a damp cloth with you at all time and just wipe off the paint spill. Sometimes it easier to the edging without blue tape, that way you see the over painted edge and you can clean it right away rather than you wait until your done painting the paint will be dry then and you will have a hard to get it off especially on stained wood moldings because you can’t just painted it over.
